Free Google Maps Rank Checker

Google Maps results change from street to street, so a ranking checker that gives you one number is guessing. NearPinn scans a geo-grid of up to 13 × 13 points, 169 real coordinates across your service area, and shows the exact position of your Google Business Profile at every one of them.

Why one ranking number is not enough

Search “dentist near me” from Gulberg and again from DHA Phase 5 and you get two different lists, even though both are in Lahore. Google ranks the map pack on relevance, prominence and distance from the searcher, and distance changes with every street. So when a Google Maps ranking checker tells you that you are number 3, the honest follow-up is: number 3 from where?

A geo-grid rank checker answers that. It lays a grid of points over the area you serve, runs the search from each point and records your position at every one. Instead of a single number you get a map: the streets where you win, the streets where you are slipping, and the streets where customers never see you.

How the NearPinn geo-grid works

Scans run against live Google results from coordinates you choose. Setting one up takes a minute:

  1. Connect your Google Business Profile through Google’s own sign-in. NearPinn asks only for the permissions needed to manage your listings.
  2. Enter a keyword the way a customer types it, such as “car ac repair” or “gym in Johar Town”.
  3. Pick a grid size, up to 13 × 13. That is 169 coordinates spread across your service area. Larger grids use more credits.
  4. Run the scan. Each cell shows your position at that coordinate, and the grid reports your average rank across all points.

Every plan includes a monthly credit allowance for scans, unused credits roll over, and your first grids run on the 14-day free trial.

How to read the grid

The sample above is a 13 × 13 scan. The colours follow the same rule as the live product:

  • Green is top 3. From that spot you are in the map pack, the three results shown before anyone taps “more places”.
  • Amber is page one, outside the top 3. Visible to people who scroll, invisible to most.
  • Red is not visible. From that spot, customers find a competitor.

Look at the shape, not just the average. A tight green centre fading to red is a proximity problem: Google trusts you near your door and nowhere else. Green on one side of the grid only usually means a stronger competitor sits on the other side. Amber almost everywhere points to a category or profile-completeness problem, which our guide on how to rank higher on Google Maps fixes step by step.

Use it as a Google Maps rank tracker

A rank checker tells you where you stand today. A Google Maps rank tracker tells you whether what you are doing is working. In NearPinn you re-scan the same keyword and grid after each change, such as a new primary category, a batch of review replies or a month of weekly posts, and compare the grids. Keyword tracking also checks your saved keywords every week, so a drop shows up before a client points it out.

Agencies run grids for every client location from one workspace and export them into client-ready PDF reports, with the before-and-after grids side by side.

Is there a free GMB ranking checker?

Google My Business was renamed Google Business Profile in 2021, so a GMB ranking checker and a Google Business Profile rank checker are the same tool. Checking by hand is free but misleading: Google personalises results, and an incognito search from your own office still only shows you what people in your office see.

NearPinn is free to try. Every plan starts with a 14-day trial, a card is required at checkout, and nothing is charged until the trial ends. Run the grid for the one keyword that brings you the most calls, see where the green stops, and decide from there.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is a geo-grid rank checker?
Each point is a real search run from that coordinate, so it matches what a customer standing there would see. Results move during the day and between devices, so compare scans that used the same keyword, grid size and time of day.
What grid size should I use?
Match the area you actually serve. A 7×7 grid suits a neighbourhood shop or clinic; 13×13 covers a city-wide service area. Start smaller, then widen the grid as your green zone grows.
Does checking my rank hurt my rank?
No. A scan reads the results page the way a searcher would. It does not click, call or interact with any listing.
